The 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet rounds the line

We know you can not see much in the intentionally dark image above, but what you can see is pretty clear. This is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet, which joins the coupe, wagon, sedan (in E300, E43, and E63 flavors), and off-road. He comes to Geneva, so you will not have to wait long to see the rest.

Other than what we already know - that it will be the first convertible E-Class to actually ride on an E-Class platform - there's not much to glean here. The previous model was mounted on a modified C-Class platform, and before the nearest parent was the CLK coupe and convertible (also related to the C-Class). The platform switch is a very good thing, indeed. All the E-Class variants we have driven so far - the E300 sedan, the E400 wagon and the Mercedes-AMG E43 - have proved that the architecture is wonderful (even though the E43 variant did not convey much charisma) . It would be a shock if the Cabriolet was not perfect for the course.

Also, this will complement the E-Class family, so there are no esoteric variants behind the scenes. We should have information on European engine choices and specifications in Geneva, with US market specifications to follow some time after.
