The long awaited BMW i8 Spyder

Just a few weeks ago, we had our first glimpse of the much anticipated BMW i8 Spyder. It was tested with its targa style top removed. Now we still have better plans of the car with a removable top in place.

This top happens to be a covered piece of fabric that fills the space between the windshield header and the seat covers. It also helps to keep the futuristic supercar lines of the i8, although the fabric looks a bit like the last century. We imagine that it could be a temporary roof that can be stowed in the car, while another, possibly made of glass, the roof could also be installed for a more finished design.

Aside from the top, everything else seems to be standard i8 on this car. The body generally remains the same, and there do not seem to be any major updates to the lights, grids or other easily updated body panels. The only major difference seems to be some additional battens in the hood extraction duct. We expect that the production vehicle will soon show up, and the car must start production next year.
