Ford invests $ 200 million in new wind tunnel complex

Ford will spend a lot of money on a high-tech wind tunnel test facility (more than what is shown above), and apparently everything is in pursuit of greater fuel economy and performance. To do this, the facility will feature tunnels that can handle a range of situations, including high speeds, extreme temperatures, and large vehicles.

On the front of the stage, one of the tunnels will feature special fast-moving belts, also known as rolling roads, that will direct the air around the car at 200 mph depending on how the multiple belt system is configured. This faster belt system will be useful for sports cars and Ford racing cars. Ford also said that the five-belt system will be useful to improve aerodynamics for energy efficiency.

Another part of the facility will be able to simulate extreme temperatures. Ford says that this particular test chamber will be able to cool things down to negative 40 degrees Fahrenheit and heat things up to 140 degrees. The company also says the facility will also have large tunnels for its large trucks.

The construction of the 13-acre facility, $ 200 million, will begin this year. It will be built in Allen Park, Michigan.
