2 reasons why Nigerian police like to stop SUVs at checkpoints

After observing the trend at several police checkpoints, I was able to conclude that the policemen in Nigeria prefer to stop the SUVs.

I did not think too long before 2 reasons came to mind. I would like to share them and also get more reasons from you guys in the comments section.



1. Tinted windows
As we all know, a big chunk of SUVs come with factory tinted windows (privacy glass). This made the men in black to fall in love with them on the Nigerian roads. Because drivers may have the fake color permit or maybe not at all. The policemen use this hue to cut for some time now and I guess it will not stop soon.

The only way to escape from constant harassment is to have a valid tone permit if you are driving an SUV or a mini car.


2. SUVs are for big men / women
It is popular to believe that anyone driving an SUV is rich. What a myth! Either way, it seems that men in uniform believe there is a greater chance of something falling from SUV owners. Sometimes they even hunt after you on Danfo buses that they chartered for the day.

So if you are an existing or a potential SUV owner, be prepared for a little more imposing depending on the areas you drive.
